Heritage Projects
Working across sectors to bring hand painted signage to funded restoration projects
We have worked with a range of organisations on heritage funded projects that require traditional hand painted signage. In many of these projects we work directly with architects or are contracted by trade groups to complete the work, either to design them ourselves or by using pre-approved designs.
Whether you're a funding body, a heritage initiative, architecture practice or trade group, we'd love to work with you to bring traditional signwritten shopfronts back to Scottish streets. See below for examples of previous projects and please send all inquiries to:

Projects designed and painted by Bungo Sign Co:
Govan Shopfronts, 2023
Studio SJM Architects approached us with three shopfronts in Govan to be designed and painted in a traditional style to comply with conservation and council regulations.
The installation of a new traditional shop front for Maslow's Community, to a unit which was empty for over a decade, has been transformative. The welcoming yellow colour of the shop front reflects Maslow’s - an incredible charity who ‘empower refugees, asylum seekers and those experiencing poverty and hardship by enabling them to improve their financial and social situation’.
Bungo Sign Co attended a series of meetings with the shop tenants to discuss options for signage that would reflect their business and comply to grant regulations. The team continued liaising with each tenant until bespoke signage for each shop had been approved.
Project contracted by Studio SJM Architects with funding from Govan Cross Townscape Heritage Initiative and Glasgow City Council. Shop fronts designed by SJM Architects and fitted Lochlie Construction Group. The project completes a series of traditional shop frontage refurbishments carried out in Govan over recent years.

Bungo Sign Co was contracted by Wright Kerr All Trades to designed and paint eight shopfronts on Saracen Street, Possilpark.
We worked with the shop tenants to discuss options for signage that would reflect their business and comply to grant regulations. A few of the shop's own logos were adapted to suit their signwritten fascia and the others were designed from scratch.
